Growing up in Maine, I had a love of art and using my hands and creativity. I then traveled and went to school at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC where I fell in love with clay and ceramic art. In 2008, we moved back to Maine to pursue other careers, but art was always in my life. Over the years, I have continued to grow as an artist, as I grew my career and my family.
As a ceramic artist, I use my pottery as a primary vessel of creativity by using the surface of my pieces as a canvas for my artistic expression. What is a spoon rest without a snail alien to add pop and personality to a kitchen using a mundane household object and adding in some creativity and humor.
As a ceramic artist, I blend whimsy and functionality to my pieces working with stoneware and a variety of underglazes and cone 10 glazes. I am interested in pottery that sparks joy and a smile, but it with a Victorian otter having tea with a great white shark or a possum screaming into the abyss as your coffee creamer.
I strive to brighten homes with these hand thrown and hand painted pieces made on the wheel and inspired by an eccentric mind. With an eye for detail, humor is blended with nature and creates whimsy making well designed pieces for the home.
